  MPHI affiliate Unit Manager for the Response Planning Unit (RPU) under the Chemical Planning and Response Section (CPRS), Division of Toxicology and Response (DTR) of the Environmental Health Bureau (EHB) within MDHHS. RPU serves as a resource to coordinate EHB's incident and event preparedness and response activities of over 380+ EHB staff to environmental, chemical, and physical hazards and collaborates with local, state, and federal agencies. RPU assures hazards are identified, investigated, and interventions are in place to mitigate or remediate hazards for the people of Michigan including the most vulnerable. RPU acts as EHB's focal point towards sustaining and increasing the Bureau's capabilities for prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities through implementation of the National Incident management System (NIMS) Framework. This work, led by the Center for Health Security (CHS) and the Johns Hopkins Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR), is part of a national initiative to enhance public health preparedness and response (PHPR) capabilities across the United States, with funding awarded to one institution in each HHS region.
