  I oversaw the Opinions section of The Huntington News, Northeastern University's independent student-run newspaper. As editor, I brainstormed and pitched editorial topics at weekly staff meetings. Disagreements would often arise on controversial topics, and it was my job to facilitate compromise among editors and write a piece that the entire team agreed with. Additionally, I managed and edited the work of a team of four student cartoonists and columnists. I conducted interviews with students and citizens in Boston and published six articles in multiple sections of the paper (Campus, City and Lifestyle).

  I was part of a team of 18 student journalists led by two Northeastern professors reporting on arts and culture in Cuba. In the 29 days I was there, I completed two full news packages, complete with photo and video. I also gained extensive experience working with a translator.

  I wrote articles for a Madrid-based magazine geared toward Americans. I conducted many interviews in Spanish and wrote my pieces in English. This was my first experience with magazine writing and an opportunity to improve my Spanish. I was supposed to work with Guidepost through May but unfortunately had to return home early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  Climate XChange

  State Climate Policy Network Fellow

  I researched climate and energy policy in state legislatures, particularly Nevada, with the goal of helping Climate XChange understand how to best advocate for clean energy and climate action in specific regions. In addition, I pulled key stakeholders into the State Climate Policy Network and wrote articles about climate and clean energy policy.

  I covered the environment and climate change at this national news outlet, with much of my work focusing on the intersection of energy, policy, and law. I pitched my own stories, wrote on deadline, fact-checked and researched for major projects, copy-edited, and helped manage the CMS.
