    • The Scots College

      Mar 2017 - Jul 2019

Coached my Grade 12 team to win the Sydney FED championship. I took on a number of teams and fully indoctrinated them into following my personal political beliefs. Just kidding (unless…)—I worked with a number of students, typically in Years 9–12, to make them well-rounded debaters by setting them up with frameworks for thinking & reasoning about the issues of the day, instead of just giving them positions. I helped senior students to guide and perfect their HSC technique on a casual basis.

      Intern Developer

I was Code Barrel’s 5th employee, working in a fast-paced environment to scale the product to $1m ARR. Despite being an intern, the team involved me in strategy & direction. I was integral in implementing A4J’s ADG3 design refresh (React), the new rules sandbox to onboard customers (Java on AWS Lambda), and capped my time off by designing & implementing the automationforjira.com landing page as part of our brand refresh (Squarespace Custom Templates).

    • Atlassian

      Nov 2018 - Feb 2023

Not only was I one of the fastest-promoted APMs ever, I was also the youngest L4 Product Manager ever at Atlassian. I primarily worked on Atlassian’s experimentation platform team, during which time we built a data pipeline that fully automated A/B experimentation for developers rolling out features & changes. I also worked on a globally replicated, compliant object store, the machine learning platform, and Atlassian’s most-trafficked microservice (our analytics ingestion pipeline), usually simultaneously. Show less I worked on the Forge team to deliver an overhaul of Atlassian’s extensibility platform in our Cloud products. My team was in charge of the frontend components, where I led a customer-driven overhaul of the strategy to pivot toward an iframe-based solution that most notably cut back on 1/3rd of all reported security issues. I also became a de facto Developer Relations specialist, encouraging our team to become pioneers in interacting with users through our developer forums.During this time I also worked with a colleague on a prototype for a work-focused social network with ease-of-use and discoverability at the forefront. Show less I worked with the Design System Team to build out Atlassian's tooling architecture for designers. During my time I built out a plugin for the design app Sketch that shipped our UI components and graphic assets to product designers, on top of reducing day-to-day frustrations designers have with Sketch and the Atlassian Design Guidelines by improving & standardising the design system directly. I also championed and pushed for an open source release to Atlassian's Ecosystem developers as the Vendor Sketch Plugin. In this role I discovered a passion for end-to-end product management, so I transferred roles at the end of my contract. Show less

      Side Project

Keen to build something from start to finish, I dusted off my engineering hat to scratch a personal itch—ChatGPT for Notion. I built the entire thing on Cloudflare Workers (and I mean the entire thing—D1, R2, KV, Durable Objects, Vectorize, Workers AI) with Remix & TypeScript. It was really fulfilling to contribute back to each of the above technologies when I found issues, which was also a great way to learn how they work under the hood. As the project continued, I was humbled by the art of Engineering™, which is about learning exactly how little you can get away with building. By the end, it was clear that Notion were going to Sherlock the feature, so after a pivot into building a ChatGPT plugin (a.k.a. GPT), I saw the writing on the wall and wound it down. Show less
