      • Developed a corrosion-resistant coating using an in-house developed surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) system in a cryogenic atmosphere on AA7075 alloy, which displays potential applications in thin-film coatings with improved strength and durability.• Investigated the corrosion properties of magnesium alloys (AZ31B, ZK60, Mg-3Si, and Pure Mg) developed by a novel, cost-effective solid-state processing technique namely ShAPE (Shear Assisted Processing and Extrusion) in collaboration with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for lightweight and energy-efficient automobile components.• Performed finite element-based numerical simulation (COMSOL Multiphysics Software) to investigate and deconvolute the effect of second phase distribution from grain size and crystallographic orientation on corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys.• Assessed the effectiveness of titanium-based grain refiners on microstructure and corrosion resistance of 3D printed aluminum alloys (AA 7075 and AA7050) to understand structure-property correlation for future compositional optimization at Elementum3D Inc.• Analyzed the detrimental effect of severe plastic deformation history on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy (AA 5083) using electrochemical tests and characterization techniques (collaborated with US Army Research Laboratory).• Critical assessment of the role of additive manufacturing and subsequent heat treatments on microstructure and mechanical behavior of Nickel-based superalloy (Inconel 718).
