      Activities and Societies: Composing in 25 styles of music (including jazz, broadway, country, rock, dramatic ballad, etc.) for big band and full orchestra, studying advanced arranging skills, filmscoring, professional copyist skills, conducting, and the like. Since then my accessible classical music has been performed around the world and has won awards. Completed the Contemporary Composing & Arranging Program (CAP) as one of the 3 top composer/arrangers in the class. Went on to arrange and compose for CDs, musical theatre and contemporary live concerts in 16 countries including top venues like St. Martin-in-The-Fields, London, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manhattan, Los Angeles, Spain, Germany, etc.

My mentors include Darius Milhaud, Vincent Persichetti, Walter Piston and family friend Leonard Bernstein. I have been dubbed "The Dream Composer" because I can dream entire compositions and then write them down after waking. I am also a Lyricist, Librettist, and Composition Teacher.       Internationally recognized Composer Carol Worthey began her music career on the first day of life: Family friend Leonard Bernstein was in her house. Carol began composing at age 3 1/2. She wrote an Etude age 10 that premiered in Carnegie Hall by pianist Vivian Rivkin. At 13 Carol began composition lessons with Grant Beglarian at Merrywood School of Music (John Harbison, Music Director). She studied with Darius Milhaud at Aspen Music Festival, and Vincent Persichetti (of Juilliard) at Hopkins Center for the Performing Arts (Dartmouth). She was also mentored by Walter Piston and Elliott Carter.       As a poet, I have won numerous poetry awards and been published in several anthologies. As a playwright, my plays have been mounted on stage in Los Angeles, CA, including the libretto for "The Night Before Christmas" (based on Clement C. Moore's famous poem) which played for 5 holiday seasons in Greater Los Angeles. As a non-fiction essayist and book writer, I have two books completed, awaiting publishing.

      I am a former Board of Directors Member of IAWM and have helped advocate for recognition of women composers and performers, past and present. I have attended Congresses of IAWM and ICWM (Int'l Congress of Women in Music) in Beijing and Florida. I am an award-winning, internationally-recognized "Classical" Composer aka a Contemporary (but accessible and lyrical) Concert Composer who writes for voice and all instruments. I have created the film score for an HBO Movie produced by George Lucas and had works in Carnegie Hall and 12 countries. I am also a Painter with exhibits in Florence and Beverly Hills and a Writer (non-fiction, poetry, plays, short stories).

      I won a Special Recognition Award from 2007 Florence Biennale for "Fanfare for The New Renaissance" for 10 Brass that was performed on Opening Day. My paintings and Artist Bio are in their 2007 Catalogue book and I showed 3 large paintings there and helped represent Artists for Human Rights at the Exhibit (80 countries represented.) I've had a Solo Exhibit in Beverly Hills and been shown in Santa Monica, CA, Manhattan, Aspen Colorado and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I paint Watercolors, Acrylics, Oil, Pastels, and nearly all media in a variety of sytles but specialize in Neo-Impressionist/Representational Art.
