  I worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Associate in the Medical Science Program-Physiology Department. This role included helping teach physiology laboratories and assisting IU faculty/associate instructors in promoting a positive learning environment. I built leadership, communication skills, an initiative to succeed, and responsibility through this teaching opportunity.

  I completed a 6-week outpatient clinical at ProRehab in Poseyville, IN. I gained exposure in manual therapy and planning treatment programs to improve mobility and reduce pain in patients with low back neck pain. I also gained experience on post-surgical physical rehabilitation to restore function in patients who underwent shoulder, hip, or knee replacements.

  I completed a 6-week outpatient clinical experience with Shelbourne Knee Specialty Clinic. Here I gained exposure and experience with physical rehabilitation of knee injuries such as ACL injuries, osteoarthritis pain, patella disorders, and meniscal injuries. I also gained clinical experience in pre- and post-rehabilitation for athletes following ACL reconstructions with a goal to return to sport safely.

  I completed an 8-week acute care clinical experience at IU Health University Hospital. While here, I worked in the surgical/oncology unit where I gained experience in restoring function to patients who underwent surgical intervention for cancerous tumor removals. I also gained exposure in performing physical therapy rehabilitation and educating treatment interventions to patients diagnosed with hematologic cancers to prevent functional decline during their inpatient hospital stay.

  I completed a 10-week clinical experience at Brookside Village Senior Living, a facility with skilled nursing and assisted living rehabilitation services. Here I gained skills in evaluating and treating the geriatric patient population that experienced functional decline from general deconditioning, neurological conditions, cardiopulmonary conditions, or surgical interventions. I also had opportunity to co-treat with occupational and speech language therapists and in an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Show less
