  • Experience

    • The Boeing Company

      Feb 1998 - Aug 2004
      Structural Engineer, F-22 Program

Initiated a rotation program working in Stress Analysis, Design Engineering, and Production Support Engineering in F-22 Program Integrated Product Teams:• Stress Analysis: Performed static as well as durability and damage tolerance analysis on titanium and composite structure through hand calculations as well as by Finite Element Modeling, and produced clear documentation of analysis for use by other engineers. Determined that existing engine mount design was deficient and developed a mechanical fix, as well as a new design for the part. Worked to improve air vehicle design to reduce weight and improve manufacturability. Provided on-site support for fatigue test at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, GA.• Design Engineering: Initiated and committed design changes to correct deficiencies and improve design and manufacturability of structure. Coordinated changes with Stress Analysis, Parts Material & Process Technology, Manufacturing, Configuration Control, Schedule, and Quality Assurance groups within the Boeing Company as well as with Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, GA and Ft. Worth, TX. • Production Support Engineering: Provided time critical engineering support for factory floor to alleviate costly production delays. Developed solutions for manufacturing problems. Designed fixes for manufacturing errors. Clarified manufacturing instructions. Implemented rejection tag tracking process within group. Recommended design changes to design engineers based on manufacturing issues. Show less

    • GEI Consultants, Inc.

      Nov 2007 - Feb 2010
      Water Resources Project Engineer

Performed hydraulic and hydrologic engineering analysis and design tasks to support proposal work as well as project work in local and regional GEI offices. Created and revised existing HEC-RAS models to optimize design and review existing design. Supported team efforts to model river temperatures downstream from hydropower outfall and predict minimum releases required to prevent fish kill. Assisted in troubleshooting Visual Basic river thermal model by researching equations, and using engineering judgment and analytical problem solving . Processed and presented flow and water quality data from field measurements of river. Assisted Independent Consultant in document review, dam inspection, client correspondence, and writing of safety inspection report for FERC Part 12 Safety Inspection. Prepared data sets for Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS). Performed preliminary design for a circular dike, calculated storage volumes and construction quantities. Performed hydraulic design and analysis of large diameter conveyance pipeline and small diameter well field collection pipeline network to determine required diameters, horizontal and vertical alignment, and appurtenances. Performed hydraulic analysis of culverts and weirs. Used open channel hydraulics analysis for channel design. Performed initial research of permitting issues. Prepared project cost estimates. Prepared technical memos, reports, construction specifications, and other written documentation. Show less

    • Bureau of Reclamation

      Mar 2010 - Jun 2016
      Senior Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineer

Developed probabilistic hydrologic loadings for Reclamation Dam Safety Program decision-making and dam safety risk analysis. Developed annual and seasonal peak flow, volume, and reservoir elevation frequencies, and frequency hydrographs including uncertainties for extreme events using complex rainfall-runoff models, flood frequency tools with and without paleoflood information, and reservoir routing tools for large and small basins. Developed Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) and Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) estimates in addition to probabilistic estimates. Member of nine-member Risk Cadre, developed to address risk related issues for the Reclamation Dam Safety Office. Show less

    • MetStat, Inc.

      Jul 2016 - Dec 2019
      Chief Hydrologic Engineer

Responsible for developing hydrologic loadings for dams in mountainous regions with drainage areas ranging from 2 to over 14,000 square miles to support dam safety analyses using the Stochastic Event Flood Model (SEFM). Subject matter expert for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Risk Informed Decision Making (RIDM) pilot-project for a small dam in the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California. Developed 28-day real-time runoff forecasts for a system of three dams in the Eastern Sierra Mountains to inform dam operation decisions for the 2017 spring runoff season. Developed design hydrographs for the same system of three dams to be used for the design of flow control structures to mitigate spring/summer snowmelt floods. Show less
