This includes engaging with stakeholders, mitigating risks/gaps, and aligning stakeholder requirements with the intended change to ensure adoption.• Lead a team of over 50 people across 14 geographies in East Asia.• Partner with all business departments to co-develop an appropriate people strategy that will realise business objectives.• Lead the implementation of global initiatives, policies and processes in East Asia. Providing insights on regional and country practices to global leadership to ensure global initiatives succeed. Maintaining global standards and localising as appropriate (based on local laws, language, culture, practices).• Engage the business at all levels to coach them through the adoption of new tech platforms. • Coach business leaders through complex people management situations and advise them on the human impact of large-scale decisions. Key Achievements:• Undertook an audit of all HR Services activities performed locally across East Asia, aimed at focusing the team on value-add activities. Successfully reduced HR headcount by 20% and freed up an additional 10% of capacity for remaining staff. • Implemented the global HR programme for East Asia, which rolled out an HR Information System (HRIS) and moved HR queries to a Shared Service Centre.• Reviewed all contract templates and terms and conditions across all staff groups and all countries.• Guide the business in adapting to COVID19 in how they manage their staff remotely and look after their wellbeing. • Delivered the methodology to implement a Global Transformation Programme in East Asia Show less • Led the East Asia Resourcing department to provide both operational recruitment delivery and a Centre of Expertise service (expert advise and delivery of frameworks and methodologies), across East Asia• Partnered with business leadership teams and HRBPs in East Asia to provide proactive resourcing solutions aligned with their business strategies. • Drove the team to provide a customer-centric service, across all functions and countries, creating solutions with the business whilst remaining compliant with global processes and policies. • Ensured that the core values of fairness, transparency and diversity were central to all recruitment activities. • Led on all senior hires in the region (across all contract types).• Provided input and roll out to global teams on new policies and initiatives. Shared East Asia initiatives with global teams for wider roll out, where appropriate. • Supported other regional recruitment leads and mentored them to achieve results in their regions/ teams, particularly in Africa and South America.Achievements:• Overhauled the recruitment process to improve the quality of service and provide global consistency of approach. Transformed the recruitment team from administrative support to recruitment professionals. • The team handled over 1000 vacancies in 2018, including niche roles and high volume exercises. This included the recruitment of 100 Examiners (a niche skillset) in China over the course of 6 months. • Designed assessment tools in line with strategic agendas, particularly in cases of restructures, which has now been adopted globally for restructuring exercises. • Created an approach to high volume recruitment from attraction (through targeted marketing campaigns, referrals etc.), to efficient selection and talent pipelining. The key objectives of speed, cost efficiency and low time requirement from the business were met. This approach has now been rolled out globally. Show less • Led on hires on UK contracts (expatriates and UK based) for English & Exams, Arts and Digital, from attraction to on-boarding.• Designed and delivered all Intern and Graduate recruitment activities. • Gained visibility of recruitment activities in region (particularly East Asia and MENA) for teaching to enable a more strategic conversation with the English leadership team in the UK.• Advised HR colleagues and hiring managers globally on recruitment approaches, policies and solutions. • Led on the review of attraction channels across all recruitment activities to reduce cost to hire and improve our reach of key talent audiences. Achievements:• Designed and delivered a redeployment campaign for middle managers, globally, from attraction to appointments. Led on the first direct sourcing initiatives for middle manager posts globally. These posts had always been filled internally. In 2014, 30% of posts went to external candidates. • Designed and delivered a best practice attraction and selection approach to global graduate and intern recruitment, with diversity at its core. As a result, all graduate posts were filled, including some in difficult countries such as Pakistan and Libya. Half the internship recruits were disabled. Reduced the cost per hire by 25% by negotiating with providers and targeting high impact, low cost solutions. • This led to no recruitment agency spend in English & Exams and Arts in 2013-2014.
