  As a research specialist in Dr. Ted Abel's laboratory in the Department of Biology, my responsibilities were multifaceted. My main responsible was managing transgenic mouse colonies which are used for autism research. I was also responsible for bench lab work, such as performing DNA and RNA extractions, genotyping mice using PCR, synthesizing cDNA, protein extractions/Western blots, and other procedures. I performed a variety of mouse work as well including Intraperitoneal injections, brain dissections, ear marking, and toe clipping.
