  This internship was part of my Master's program capstone course at USF. I had to pick a research topic and a place to intern, then write a paper about the research I did as part of the internship. Full disclosure, I found the place to intern first so I picked a topic once I arrived. My capstone paper was about the link between sustainability and faith-based communities, as Dublin is a melting pot of different religions and Energy Action helps communities of various backgrounds.

  This has been the most rewarding position I have held so far. I have had the chance to learn and grow so much as a person and a professional. I am always afforded the opportunity to learn new skills and take on new projects or responsibilities, which makes me feel like I am always being challenged. My work is never dull.Although my job is very versatile, requiring me to wear many hats, it is first and foremost my responsibility to promptly handle the processing of incoming training orders. I also oversee the development, coordination, and distribution of our own training schedule. I regularly communicate with our training partner vendors and serve as a primary point of contact for problem resolution and partnership. I am also solely responsible for maintaining our Intranet and gca.training website from a project management and data integrity perspective.I support operational leadership in a variety of departments — from finance and IT to human resources and accounts payable. Sometimes I serve as the liaison between the business side of the organization and the technical side, identifying needs, communicating findings, and making recommendations. My position requires high-level organizational and communication skills, as well as the abilities to: take initiative to complete complex tasks and projects quickly and autonomously; react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround; and switch gears at a moment's notice. Recently, my position has exposed me to additional roles that require me to understand the basics of branding, marketing campaigns, and product promotion. I take an operational role in helping to coordinate marketing events, such as trade shows, for the company, and I manage our internal Training marketing team. Show less GCA Training was at a pivotal time when I held this position. We revamped our Intranet and gca.training website, which required a lot of new development and data analysis. I was the Project Manager that managed all communications and development between our internal staff and our outsourced developers. We used Teamwork as our project management tool and it was my responsibility to keep everything on track. With the new Intranet powering the website, it was incredibly important that I managed and maintained the integrity of our data so that it all displayed properly and accurately on our gca.training website.
