As an intern, I screened patients’ medical records, collaborated with other research interns, research coordinators, and health care professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and residents. I approached patients and their families to consent and educate them about several research studies. If patients were enrolled in studies, I would collect data for the study by observing the patients.

Develop an online histological learning atlas for medical students and identify and label histological slides. The atlas can be viewed at: http://microanatomyatlas.com/. The atlas is currently utilized by first-year medical students at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. As a research intern, I conducted medical education research under the supervision of a faculty advisor. The research focused on understanding the impact of cultural beliefs on first year medical students’ experience with cadaveric dissection in gross anatomy laboratory. My responsibilities included statistically analyzing and organizing data sets, writing an abstract, presenting a poster at the University’s Research Day, and participating in peer-review of the article to be published.
