      Student

At university, I was a 4.0 student-athlete. I studied Family Studies and Human Development with a concentration in childhood wellness and nutrition. For several semesters I was also an undergraduate research assistant under one of my professors examining caregiving in the elderly in Hispanic populations. In addition to my studies and academic pursuits, I was a 4 year-letter winner, dedicated 20+ hours per week to further my athletic career as long distance runner. Through the athletic department, I actively engaged in leadership groups such as Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), Peer Athletic Leaders (PAL) and a bystander intervention program called "STEP UP!" My role as an athlete also provided me the platform to perform over 130 hours of community service, participating in events such as fitness fairs, reading in schools, and mentoring local middle school students. Furthermore, my freshmen year I founded a chapter of a non-profit club called “FeelGood” which seeks to end world hunger by raising money and awareness for their partnership organization, The Hunger Project. • Fit Kids of Arizona

      May 2011 - Aug 2011
      Intern

While interning at Fit Kids of Arizona, I spent over 135 hours shadowing and assisting the exercise physiologist, RN, RD, and behavioral counselor in the clinic. I scheduled appointments, entered data, and made appointment reminder calls. Additionally, I co-taught weekly nutrition and exercise educational classes at a local summer school program. This included efforts to expand community recognition of Fit Kids at local Flagstaff community events such as Friday “Movies on the Square.” Lastly, I researched and drafted a grant for the Bank of America Foundation in order to support the “Kids in the Kitchen” project. Aug 2012 - May 2013
      Reading Interventionist

As a Reading Interventionist, I planned and taught six lessons daily to groups of 4 to 6 children, kindergarten through fifth grade. I worked with remedial as well as gifted students, implementing strategies to actively engage students and encourage investment in their own education. I teamed up with the other interventionists, the classroom teachers, and the literacy coach to maximize students' performance. Pairing of students depended largely on the results of the standardized tests that we would administer/proctor, including DIEBELS, AZELLA, AIMS and SAT10. Show less

    • Project Video

      Jul 2014 - Jan 2020

As a Project Video intern in Thailand , my primary job has been to LEARN. Two days per week I studied language. Due to my volunteer status, I launched and maintained a support-raising campaign. My monthly newsletter, "Hanna's Happenings," is the primary way I keep current supporters updated. My actual work responsibilities included coordinating and leading five groups of Americans to various projects throughout Asia, including Vietnam and the Philippines. I developed trip itineraries, booked transportation, arranged activities, and handled trip emergencies. Furthermore, I acted as the liaison between American volunteers, ethnic teams, and ministry leaders. When a team of American volunteers or new interns arrived, I orientated them to the ministry as well as to life in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Before these teams left, I debriefed them. I have had the opportunity to work in a diverse community, representative of over fifteen different cultures! Show less
