  Maintenance Operational Supervisor

  I began my career in the U.S. Navy as mechanic onboard USS Enterprise before I was quickly promoted to Nuclear Maintenance Operations Manager where I directed 25 team members on plant operations during transition from eight operating reactors to shut down and defueled; I aided in the decommissioning of the first nuclear power aircraft carrier. I oversaw day-to-day maintenance operations through the mentorship and development of a coordinated watch team consisting of 45 team members in four separate reactor plants and two auxiliary machinery spaces. I trained and supervised 30 personnel in the completion of over 200 maintenance items on various systems including steam generators, reactor safety equipment, and propulsion equipment resulting in zero rework. I implemented and administered classroom and individual training programs upon review of over 300 sets of logs, where I identified 25 team members requiring training. I also maintained 100% accountability and maintenance of 500+ valves and I completed over 40 reactor plant maintenance items valued at $1M. Show less

  Maintenance Operational Supervisor | Instructor

  In 2014 I was promoted to the Maintenance Operational Supervisor and Training Instructor at Nuclear Power Training Unit. In the role I manage a team of 4 operators located at various watch stations including, a primary systems mechanic, a feed control operator (steam generators and water inventory), an engine room upper level operator (main engines, turbine generators, and auxiliary steam equipment), and an engine room lower level (condensate systems, HVAC and 3000# air compressors). I superintend complex evolutions involving steam engines, steam turbines, HVAC units, high-pressure air compressors, hydraulic valve cycling, and radiological systems; I also maintain all aspects of a propulsion plant engine room. I was selected as the mechanical department subject matter expert to manage the Advanced Industrial Management Program. As an Instructor, I certified over 700 senior and junior nuclear operators in casualty response and reactor plant operations utilizing instructional methods and manuals; I provided individualized, hands-on instruction involving a rigorous checkout process to include board demonstrations and watch standing assistance. I conducted over 200 preventive and corrective maintenance items as the Quality Assurance Inspector for numerous repairs on steam plant equipment to support continued operations of a 54-year-old nuclear reactor and engine room.
