I was able to interact with lots of subcontractor and got chance to see how they play their own special role in the building process.   Pre Construction Intern

  For this summer of 2023, I was able to see another side of construction (Pre-construction), and I enjoyed every second. I was located in the Raleigh area working with Mike MacGilvray, Lucas Anderson, Ron Cohn, and Ryleigh Burns. My world changed once I entered Precon, after seeing the hard working hours to win or help complete the design of a project, before the project even starts. Tasks that I was involved in was estimating, subcontractor calling, bid-day, and bid runner. This summer was great and I am ready to see what the next summer has in store for me. Show less

  Research Assistant

  I am currently working as a research assistant under Dr. Daniel V. Perrucci. The role I am fulfilling is to create an estimate for the United States post-disaster house. The purpose of the research is to create a minimal-cost temporary home in case of disaster, as well, as to be propped up rapidly. Lastly, to be able to make the transaction from temporary to permanent living. Experience creates the person!

  Field Intern: University Tower MEP Renovation

  I'm grateful for the opportunity to intern at Blum Construction for the third time. This summer, I had the chance to work on NC State's University Tower dormitory. The project was nothing less than a blitz rush to bring the MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) up to code-compliance standards before the deadline. I was able to get more involved in the management side of construction and deepen my understanding of the intricacies of each system. It was enlightening to see how each task connects to form a cohesive, functioning building. A big thank you to Chase Patten, Collin Hoover, and Cal Lewis for allowing me to take on a larger role this summer. Show less
