In this context, it considers connections that held these variouspositions regarding the degree of autonomy of the intellectual field of education.Starting with the analysis of the historical discussion about intellectuals, itproposes a description of general characteristics of intellectuals since the constitutionof modern state to date.There follows a description of the development of the intellectual field ofeducation in Argentina, with particular emphasis on the different roles thatintellectuals have assumed from the beginning of the professionalization of the fieldduring the '50s to the military seizure of government in 1976, when the field suffered aclear breakthrough.
