  Prieto has a Bachelor’s Degree in Police Sciences Administrations and a Master’s Degree in Command Staff Administration and management that was obtained at the University of Huánuco where he also studied Law and Political Science. He eventually rose to the level of Chief of Criminal Investigations as well as Chief of Organized Crime and Human Trafficking. In the latter assignment, he was named as liaison to the High Commissioner for the United Nations Office of Refugees (ACNUR.)In 2006 he established the Alliance Guardian Angels in Peru as a chapter of the same organization that is based in New York City, New York and he continues to serve as the Director of the organization. In 2007 and 2008 he was selected to participate in a specialized intelligence team developed to provide security for the APEC and ALC-UE Forum which included the participation of 21 heads of state during the first meeting and 50 heads of state during the second iteration. In 2009 and 2010 he was selected as the Chief of Intelligence for the Security team of the Minister of Interior after which he was recognized for his outstanding performance. In 2011 he was designated as the Commissioner of La Joya during which he was responsible for the dismantling of more than 5 criminal organizations including the MONTUFAR brothers. In this regard he was recognized during a public ceremony by the Governor of Arequipa. Prieto has received the distinction of being recognized as an Officer and a Gentleman for his exceptional and meritorious service to the government of Peru. In addition, he is the recipient of an award from the U.S. Secret Service for his contribution towards the arrest of counterfeiters of more than 3 million U.S. dollars that were based in Tampa, Florida. He continues to serve as a Major in the Officer Corps of the Peruvian National Police. Show less
