  Senior Software Developer

   Conducted consulting of master plan for establishing Computer and Communication Center in KPS. Designed and implemented Power Units Management System (PUMAS) that run on host/slave model. This was the first ever large-scale IT project applied mini-computer system for power plant operation and maintenance. The system was deployed at 2 nuclear and 4 fossil power plants for 6 years. Analyzed PUMAS using Yordon’s structured analysis and structured design (SASD) method. Participated in Korea National Geographic Institute Computerization Project aimed for map production system. Wrote user's manuals and programmer's manuals, and lectured end-users for information system.    Established and renewed long and mid-term strategic Information System and Technology development plan every 3 years. Led a team of 28 IT professionals and controlled operating budget in excess of US$2 million. Managed telephone, telecommunications, WAN/LAN, computer processing, application and web development, network design, infrastructure maintenance and installation, PC support and computer repair, technical support, help desk and MIS administration for 5,500+ users scattered in 50+ different branch offices.  Designed and implemented computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The system was the first ever graphical user interface style CMMS which runs on client/server architecture using Delphi with Oracle database. It was deployed at 8 nuclear, 22 fossil and 3 hydro power plants in Korea, and exported 1 for Malaysia and 1 for India. On-site installation and support was done in Malaysia. Led and managed the migration from host centered management information system (MIS) to web-based intranet system. This gave users exactly same look and feel for user interface between Internet and intranet, and consequently employees could be practiced with the system quicker. The system uses Oracle Enterprise edition 8.x. Designed and supervised building of in-house radio broadcast station utilizing corporate wide area network covers nationwide but designed for digital data communication originally. This upgrade resulted get employees single-minded in corporate culture. Designed and implemented MIS including personnel, payroll, accounting and project management system, etc. Designed and led implementation of the first corporate wide area network, which interconnects 50+ branch offices.  Led evaluation process for 2 host computer system (MV/60000, MV/15000S-20) and 2 enterprise range servers (HP T600) both in its technical and commercial aspects.    Designed and implemented IT glossary website which runs on Red Hat Linux and Apache environment. Localized 2,400 definitions for latest IT terminologies into Korean and published to Internet. Now the site became the most popular site providing definitions both in Korean and English among IT glossary and dictionary sites.

   Involved in founding Pihana Pacific Korea, Ltd., and built Operations team in Korea. Conducted and led whole building process for US$23 million worth of and 40,020 ft2 (3,718m2) big Pihana Seoul data center infrastructure which includes contract, design, construction, supervision, facility installation such as emergency power generator, UPS, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, site security and BMS system, and their test and commissioning.  Implemented first ever telecommunication digital exchange facility providing ‘A’ and ‘B’ redundancy for DSX1, DSX3, OSX and CAT-5e, etc. Completed installation of SAN/NAS/Backup system that can be monitored by GOC of Storage-Networks located in Massachusetts, USA.  Designed and implemented customer builds out for network POPs of AT&T GNS and Qwest Communications, and BCDR centers for CSFB and Barclays which meet high standard requirement. Established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Directed and managed 24x7 data center operation and maintenance based on SOP and company – as a multinational data centers operator – policy.  Implemented single maintenance provider program for all facility equipment. This resulted systematic approach for problem solving and reducing required time for trouble shooting against certain faulty phenomena. Show less
