  Resource and Exploration Geologist

  An internship gaining industry experience at Mineco's Headquarter in London. I have gained operational knowledge of Mineco's base metal projects in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, as well as enhancing my geological understanding of high-grade, complex, ultra-narrow vein-hosted Pb-Zn-(Ag) deposits and the associated challenges of ore grade variability and geometallurgy. Key responsibilities included:- Horizon 2020 mine site planning at the Olovo lead mine, Bosnia & Herzegovina, using QGIS software- Engaging in calls with the Chief Mine Planner- Key operation decision making, which included choosing the most cost and technical efficient generator to test start the ore processing plant- Ore reconciliation and QAQC verification of assay data- QAQC geostatistical analysis and validation (accuracy, precision& reliability) of lab results; plotting QQ and Relative Difference (RD) plots in excel- Building financial models for project appraisal and pre-feasibility studies- Due diligence report writing- Reviewing archived data from Pb ,Zn, Cu and Au projects throughout Namibia, and compiling a geological and economical database in excel.   Exploration Geologist

  Altus Strategies is an African-focused project generator, with a diverse range of commodity projects across Liberia, Mali, Cameroon, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire and Ethiopia. I worked on a short, unpaid internship basis in an experienced team dedicated to desktop-based research and expanding the company portfolio. Key responsibilities included:- Exploration targeting and target generation- Developing a geochemical exploration program in West Africa’s regolith-dominated terrains- Drill targeting at the Lakanfla Gold Project, Western Mali - Producing a detailed evolution model directed at investors of the Yatela Karst-hosted Gold Deposit, Western Mali- Analysis of company’s financial reports- Stock market analysis and research into share price, market capital price and recent financing of junior mining companies. This led to developing an excel database to rank companies based on 6-month financing, in order to identify potential investor targets. Show less

  Resource Modelling Geologist

  As part of my MSc thesis, I worked as a resource modelling geologist for Mineco Limited, working in close-relation with the project manager, chief resource geologist and project development team to improve the geological model and produce an updated resource estimate of the Olovo V2 deposit; a structurally-complex, high nugget, high grade cerussite-bearing narrow-vein deposit in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I utilised a range of geological and resource modelling software packages, which included: Isatis, Maptek Vulcan and Eureka. Key responsibilities included:• Geological and grade wireframing (explicit and implicit modelling), and validation with face and roof geological mapping• Implicit vein modelling, using interpreted footwall and hangingwall points as inputs into Eureka’s implicit vein modeller functionality• Database validation and QAQC• Statistical and geostatistical analysis, spatial grade correlation and variography analysis• Resource estimation using kriging, inverse distance and nearest neighbour interpolation methods• Block model validation and review industry best-practices such as: statistical validation of composites versus block model estimates, swath plot generation, volume comparison, and visual validation of block model estimates compared with composites, drill hole and channel sample grades in plan, cross-section and longitudinal sections• Successfully planning a 10,000 m resource infill and expansion drilling programme, aimed at: assessing the down-dip and along strike continuity of the vein system; testing the conceptual geological model; evaluating the impact of the future drilling on the resource estimate, generating high priority drill targets ranked on estimated grade and resource confidence; and increasing the life of mine Show less
