Red Hat Linux and IBM Mainframe System Administrator

At IBM I was trained as a zVM/CMS system programmer and supported IBM mainframe systems and applications. In this role I learnt how to configure and IPL zVMs, administer and use CP/CMS, write and troubleshoot scripts and programs in REXX and CMS-Pipe. I led a team supporting and maintaining IBM's internal software packaging and distribution plant based on Red Hat servers. This job required deep knowledge of Bash shell scripting/awk/sed and Red Hat's package management (RPM) software. Show less

Supported a global infrastructure of Oracle LDAP servers on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Daily Incident, Problem and Change Management of fully meshed multi-master LDAP topology comprising several dedicated read-only LDAP plants(200+ servers) for critical consumers where data reading performance was the main concern. In addition to this I also worked as SME/L3 for the data processing and distribution systems comprises Critical Path's Meta Directory Server(Join Engine), Autosys jobs(ETL). Involved in the design and implementation of "Know Your Customer" initiative which aimed a comprehensive knowledge and view of all the LDAP clients' usage metrics. This helped to identify excessive and/or substandard usage posing a threat for our LDAP plant's stability. As a People Reference Data Engineer I implemented change requests, I wrote scripts and tools in PERL/Shell for an architecture holding +100K people data records sourced from various upstream systems such as PeopleSoft (later Workday), Sun Identity Manager, IBM mainframe. Investigated and resolved data flow, data discrepancy, data synchronisation, data display issues. On-boarded and transitioned Morgan Stanley's LDAP Infrastructure and People Reference Data systems from L2-owned email based monitoring to industry standard L1/L2 managed Netcool monitoring. This resulted better response and resolution times to incidents. It also enabled the L2/L3 teams to focus more on improvements and shift the routine work to L1 more. This role provided a wide variety of tasks from responding to user requests through change implementation and project assignments to root cause analysis and tooling. Show less
