  • About me

I have done masters in economics from JNU and I have a total work experience of 7 years and 9 months in analytics and research and about three years in the field of credit risk analytics in Australia and New Zealand Bank. My domain expertise is in the area of stress testing and I am proficient in statistical software SAS and MS Excel. In stress testing I have hands on experience in developing: 1) Wholesale stress test model for portfolios of Large & Global Enterprise and Bank- Based on Vasicek-Merton framework. 2) Retail stress test model for portfolio of New Zealand Mortgage- Based on Hazard rate framework. I look forward to an engaging career in data analytics in the financial sector.

      Assistant Manager, Research & Development

Worked in the following projects:1) Data analysis of all the existing banks in India with respect to some specific parameters, such as-• Profitability (Gross and Net profit, overall and per employee).• Cost (overall cost, cost of funds, cost of borrowings and cost per employee).• Growth in business, number of branches, ATMs, POS transactions etc. 2) Financial Surveillance Framework: Development of Liquidity Stress Indicator• Analysed the existing surveillance framework of IMF and determined the changes needed in the same for the development of an effective surveillance mechanism and framework for Asian countries such as- India, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Lao, Vietnam etc. • Developed a comprehensive and simplistic indicator for detecting crisis situation in an economy i.e. Liquidity Stress Indicator. Based on Dupont model in finance – it is a ratio of reserve to total external debt, decomposed into several important ratios such as- imports to exports, exports to total trade, GDP to external debt, exchange rate to capital flows, etc. Such decomposition helped in viewing and analysing different critical aspects of an economy, for instance- the coverage of external debt, status of total trade in terms of GDP, effects of movement of capital flows on exchange rate. 1) Wholesale Stress Test Model: Large & Global Enterprises (LGE), Banks and Mining- Vasicek-Merton Method.Responsibilities Conducted data sanity checks to confirm the appropriateness of the data for LGE and Bank portfolios by creating cross tables on various dimensions like-exposure by industry and country. Involved in developing the modelling process, which included various steps like-transformation of macro-economic variables, clustering, checking for correlations, sign checks, regression and statistical tests.  Extracted Z (the systemic risk factor) using Vasicek Merton methodology, for both LGE and Bank portfolios. Updated SAS-IML codes and cross checked the results against excel sheet results.  Built linear regression models for LGE, Bank and Mining portfolios. Involved in documentation process, majorly on regression methodology part.2) Retail Stress Test Model: New Zealand Mortgage – Hazard Rate Model. Responsibilities Extracted data from different sources for relevant variables which were required for building the New Zealand mortgage model. Computed group level variables (OO/RIL) for the blue part of the mortgage portfolio. Collaborated with retail and monitoring teams to reconcile stress testing data with retail data. Worked on univariate analysis of various variables. This was done at various levels viz. source, product, group etc. Created automated scripts for computation of IV, WOE and empirical logits for portfolio variables. Researched to extract data for region-wise HPI and unemployment rate from external sources. Created automated scripts for transformation of major macro-economic variables, like- GDP, region-wise unemployment rate, region-wise house price index and CPI.  Created automated scripts to determine the significant transformed macro-economic variables, on the basis of p-value, correlation and sign. Involved in documentation process.
