      May 2010 - Aug 2010
      Summer Intern

Summer Intern at a peaking production power plant south of Phoenix, AZ. Major projects were designing a pipeline to transport water to evaporative coolers and learning how to run the plant. Project was presented to the Fossil Generation Vice President at the end of the summer.

    • Dow Chemical

      May 2011 - Aug 2011
      Summer Intern

Run Plant/Improvement Engineer Intern for Dow's Adhesive Polymers Plant. Projects included safety compliance, exchanging a Vacuum Pump Flow Meter, replacing Regulators/Control Valves, Pressure Release Valve Installation, and Orifice Calculations.

    • The Dow Chemical Company

      Jul 2012 - Oct 2015

      • Managed operation of 70 MW co-generation power plant unit, ten air compressor skids servicing two Dow sites, and over 180 miles of industrial gas pipeline servicing more than 20 internal and external customers.• Coordinated and safely executed seven pipeline inspection outages including ammonia, fuel gas, steam, hydrogen, and oxygen to install critical instrumentation, mitigating the future risk of catastrophic failure, while ensuring customers were not impacted.• Planned and executed six hot line and equipment openings on fuel gas pipelines and developed a standardized critical event review document for guidance during future high risk activities. Show less • Identified technology gaps and improvement opportunities while establishing and managing capital project budgets worth $2MM annually.• Initiated small scale maintenance and repair projects that improved environmental health and safety of plant personnel and saved the company an estimated $225M in lost man-hours and OSHA related expenses.• Served as the primary engineer on a major project to ensure the growing steam and electrical demands of the site could be met. This included managing the life extension of a 35+ year old power block. Total budgeted cost of the project was $4MM with an annual savings of $22MM in site-wide production losses.• Creatively reduced spending on purchased fuel gas and optimized production by 50% by using six sigma methodologies – savings of $500M/month in offset fuel gas costs.
