A rule of thumb for defining whether a series would be considered effects-driven would be to ask if the story could be told without the active participation of extensive digital effects, Special Effects, effects-enhanced stunts, practical effects, or nonhuman CG characters. The general public would easily identify the VFX in effects-driven series, whether they are made for pay cable, standard cable, broadcast, or streaming. Show less

The title sequence was a very satisfying collaboration between everyone in the show.We started with the premise of featuring ‘Action Fingers’ for the titles and the boys then built a routine around my boards, which we shot in one continuous take”.In addition to the titles created by Bowey, the 3D team at The LaB sydney turned the show’s logo into 3D. In the finished sequence, the ‘Action Fingers’ dash across the screen, spinning around the logo and scattering the 3D letters which make up the titles in their wake.Bowey continued, “The Umbie’s hands were shot in an entirely green screen environment with each Umbie controlling one hand, while the camera tracks with them as they charge along the obstacle course of letters and logos.Because the hands cross each other David needed to be fully suited up in a skin-tight lycra green suit, which made an amusing sight, but got very hot for him on set. I’m delighted for all the team involved to have won a Daytime Emmy, I’m just glad I didn’t have to wear the lycra suit to the awards.”For The Lab:Mark Bowey: Title Director/DesignerPrue Fletcher: ProducerMatthew McKay: 3D TDBlink Films:Michael Bourchier, Executive Producer Show less
