  Worked on and led different NLP projects ranging from machine translation, language modeling to Text analytics. Examples:1. Built and enhanced different Statistical Machine Translation Systems as English-Arabic, Hebrew-Arabic and Persian-Arabic systems. this also includes solving research problems as Solving well-known Gender-Number agreement problem in English to Arabic translation, enhancing Egyptian to English translation, solving Out-Of-Vocabulary problem in Arabic to English translation, and Persian orthography and verb re-ordering in Persian-Arabic translation. 2. Developed Arabic Sentiment Analysis for Social Media for IBM BigData platforms (Infosphere BigInsights and IBM Social Media Analytics (SMA)). Implementation supports Standard Arabic, Egyptian and Saudi Dialects for Telco, Employment and Government decrees domains.3. Implemented text analytics PoC for Minerals mining domain, to extract information from unstructured mining documents to assist next stage analytics, by facilitating compliance validation process of mining work programme. Implementation was done using IBM Annotation Query Language (AQL) and SystemT of IBM BigInsights. This work was presented in Mining Indaba 2015 conference.4. Enhanced IBM Digital Captioning and Editing System (DigiCapE) in new domain by enhancing the Language Model of its IBM ATTILA Speech Recognition engine. Worked with Speech Research group in building IBM Multilingual Automatic Speech-to-Speech Translator (MASTOR) system. Responsibility was to build Arabic components (speech recognition and text-to-speech systems) in addition to application development for hand-held.2. Developed with Computer vision group at IBM T.J. Watson lab intelligent systems based on scene analysis for car headlight control and road traffic sign localization and detection. Role was to restructure, design, and code optimization of back-end modules to satisfy real-time requirements, in addition to developing error analysis tools.Also developed different Image processing projects, as building Arabic OCR system for machine printed Arabic documents, targeting high recognition accuracy for Egyptian National ID Cards. Also Developed a prototype License Plate localization and detection system for Egyptian license plates. Show less
