      Occupational Therapy Student

I completed a 7-week placement in the Medicine for the Elderly Occupational Therapy Inpatient Department. This placement experience was the most influential experience of my Occupational Therapy studies so far. Following my 1st year placement being cancelled due to COVID-19, this was my first placement. This experience allowed me to apply all theory I had been learning on my course into practice and ultimately inspired me and reassured me that I had picked the correct profession to study. The core skills I learnt on this placement will forever influence my practice. Initially taking a more observational role to guide my learning and confidence to then finish my placement leading therapeutic sessions, and liaising with the multidisciplinary team on the ward.I cannot express my thanks enough to the Occupational Therapy team in this department.
