      Student Staff

I began working as a part-time student staff during my second semester of freshman year. Over the course of that two years, I have had the privilege of working with my colleagues who came from all different backgrounds, gender and age, and have also been able to provide my services to the GW community and members. Being placed at different work positions (equipment desk, fitness centre, weight room, front desk and laundry room), I am proud to say that I have acquired the prerequisites of working at a fitness and wellness industry while still being able to improve my leadership, communication and shared problem solving skills. One take away from working as a staff member is that it is extremely important to understand the differences in cultures in order to excel well as team who priorities inclusion and diversity at the workplace. - Promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes- Disseminate information, concerns, and providing feedback and insights into athletics department issues - Generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletics department formulation of policies - Bring about new ideas and solicit student-athlete responses and concerns (affected teams) - Elected to represent my team (GW Womens Squash Team) as a voice to advocate for student-athletes who are affected but the discontinuation of the 7 varsity sports program in GW through Team FORWARD(Future Options, Rights, and Wishes for Athlete Redirection) initiatives by SAAC Tunjukkan kurang SAAC works in conjunction with the Atlantic 10 Conference SAAC to improve the student-athlete experience by facilitating communication between student-athletes and the administration. This communication is extremely crucial as it helps to shape intercollegiate athletic policies throughout Division 1 sports which enhances the student-athlete experiences. Therefore, as a member of SAAC, I am responsible for ensuring that the voices of the GW student-athletes are being heard, making sure that any concerns, ideas or suggestions are discussed at our SAAC meetings and conveyed to the administration office so that they can go about their lives as a student-athlete with ease, comfort and safety. Apart from that, as a community service representative and member, I am responsible for identifying events and opportunities with my group members for student-athletes who are interested in taking part in. Ensuring that student-athletes are able to find a community service opportunity that fits their busy schedule and something that is of their interest so that they are able to meet the minimum community service hours required by the university. I am also incharge of coordinating and directing community services programs, recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing community oriented programs. Lastly, elicit community and organisational support for community services programs and assign volunteer staffs. Tunjukkan kurang

      Assistant Manager

Being promoted as an assistant manager, I am well aware of my responsibilities and the bigger role that I am put in compared to my previous jobs. Given this opportunity, I am able to show my skills while still gaining new ones. My biggest obstacles was to step into situations where a bigger person is needed to mediate a conversation or disagreements between two or more parties involved. Finding the best solution and knowing how to lead can be nerve-racking but with practice and training, I am comfortable in leading a conflict that meets the goals of either or both parties involved. I've also learned that having more sets of brains is more beneficial than just one when it comes to ideas, suggestions or solutions. On the other hand, cultivating a healthy work environment that is trustworthy, welcoming, helpful and kind is important in leading the organisation to success. Tunjukkan kurang

Sales, Digital and Social Media Marketing

During my time as an intern, I was fortunate enough to be given the privilege to work alongside senior staffs as well as attend senior board meetings. Working in an unusual time during a world wide health crisis, I was lucky to be given this opportunity and to be able to work from from the office everyday. Some of my highlights are: - Working in a client-facing position where having to communicate with customers directly (face-to-face, phone calls and emails) was necessary and a learning curve for me. Learnt to apply different communication skills when approaching different individuals. My biggest success when communicating with clients is to be empathetic, reasonable and modest.- Tasked with different projects weekly to meet short-term and long-term goals. My biggest project was to work on social media and digital marketing on different social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram & Twitter to increase brand awareness, leads, customers engagement as well as to promote hotel’s discounts, packages and products. Successful in meeting these goals.- Worked with senior staffs to come up with different initiatives and plans to tackle issues of COVID-19 in the hospitality industry such as promoting hotel’s safe & clean space- increase room bookings by creating different dinning offers, staycations, promotions and packages.- Worked directly with Malaysia’s well known bloggers and social media influencers to promote hotel’s brand awareness- contacted, organised, planned, scheduled and managed events - Created media contents, served as a media liaison and conducted campaign management for marketing initiatives. - Participated in sales calls with members of the sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business as well as execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (generating proposal) - New skills: graphic design, content creator, digital & photo editing, assisted & directed in photography and videography Tunjukkan kurang
