Historically our pieces have been full of color, so I thought that this was a great opportunity to flip that appeal: take all the colored chaos and channel it into isolated elements within the piece. By leaving our logo, mascot, and student in full color, I can draw a clear picture of who we are and what we do. I then decided to add in the blue swirl which helped to provide a clear, distinct visual link from our logo down to the document name. The aesthetic of the swirl almost seems dream-like in appearance, which lead me to creating a hyper-realistic cartoon version of the student. Adding in colored speckles of blue to the midground acted as a nice visual separation barrier and allowed the reader to easily focus on the important elements of the page. The act of the swirl enveloping the student makes it jump off the page, breathing life into the piece - transitioning it from flat set of collective words and graphics, to a user experience.” Show less
