  Printronix AG is a printer manufacturer. The company dominates the line printer markets in the world.My main responsibility was Printer Firmware Development. The team followed the Software Development Life Cycle, which involved requirement gathering from regional customers (mainly for Thai markets), functionality design, software development and testing. The test cycle is exhaustive and comprehensive which involves the technical teams from our regional distributors. Highlight of my exposure includes completed a 3 months assignment in Printronix headquarter, California, USA, where I went for new printer platform briefing and successfully migrated Asia language printing software to run on the new printer platform.Highlights of Project Delivered:Clients: (1) CPS Thailand; (2) IBM Thailand.Role: Team Leader / DeveloperTeam Size: 3Software and Platform Windows 95, SunSparc Station, MTOS operating system & debugger, C/C++.Project DescriptionA few Asian countries (including Thailand) had demand for industry grade line printer that prints local languages. I was in charge of Thai Printer project. With a team, I started working with our Thai distributor to understand the basic requirements and how Thai language works. Based on the understanding, we documented a prototype specification. The whole process was challenging as we were working with people of different culture, language and location. After 4 months of development and testing, the first prototype was ready. Subsequent effort was a long process of communicating with distributor to build in printer functionality and commands to meet market requirements. Along the way the distributor, CPS Thailand, ordered Thai printers in high volume. As the business picked up, IBM Thailand appointed Printronix AG to OEM their line printer based on the firmware my team developed. Show less
