    • Peryam & Kroll

      Mar 2000 - Jun 2003
Laboratory Technician / Print House Manager / Focus Group Producer

I started working at Peryam & Kroll, as a freshman in high school, as a call center operator where my only task was to call potential focus group participants, screen them, and register them for taste tests, focus groups, or other market research activities. I loved this environment and this was my first real job during all four years of high school. Within a year, I moved through the ranks and became a laboratory technician where I worked in the kitchen and testing labs preparing focus groups, monitoring participant activity, lab room set-up and break-down, and overall group management. I obtained a food and sanitation license and a CPR certification and worked directly with clients such as Kraft, Nabisco, Glad, and other conglomerate brands. After learning as much as I could, I decided to take on the Audio / Visual Management role that managed all the focus group recordings, managing 4 recording decks, microphone and video troubleshooting, client room set-up and break-down, focus room set-up and break-down. It was during this time I developed a new way to archive focus group tapes and was asked to document my processes and systems. I knew I wanted to be closer to the executive suite, so I made it a point to be as visible as possible, and I got to know some of the chief executives. I was able to participate in telephony development for phone focus groups, programming system protocols and recording automated messages that aided in user experience. Finally, I started working as a Print House Manager, where all of the printed materials were designed and printed. Merged testing materials for focus group participants and printed materials for the call center to capture participant information and qualifications. It was during this time I knew I wanted to go into a career where I was working with printers and paper. I managed 6 large Epson printers and managed several concurrent projects all with immediate deadlines. Show less
