      Closure Letter Project Team Leader

      CCJI is an interdisciplinary project that conducts investigations of unresolved cases, advocates for the families in their efforts to attain justice, conducts topical research on U.S. and global civil rights and human rights issues, and serves as an educational and legal clearinghouse for sharing and receiving information on active cases. CCJI works to provide resolution and public scrutiny of these crimes so that individual, organizational, and institutional perpetrators will be held legally and publicly accountable for these offenses. CCJI is currently pursuing numerous cases for potential reopening and prosecution by state and federal law enforcement officials. Service to the program is on a volunteer and pro bono basis. • Utilize legal research methods to conduct a thorough review of closure letters for accuracy or discrepancies in the facts about cases and determine whether additional investigation is warranted. • Help investigate unsolved civil rights murders• Help identify racist police killings• Help prepare Freedom of Information Act Petitions• Collaborate with Global & Domestic Human Rights and Civil Rights Groups Show less
