  Most important aspects of the work I was involved/responsible for were in the field of health policy, information technology (Electronic Patient Record, Health Care Communication Network and E-Health services, setting up of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for Iceland), quality management, health statistics, manpower estimations, gender equality, and internet solution. From March 2001 until November 2003 I served as the Gender Equality Adviser for the Ministry.

  Most of my work was in the area of HIV/AIDS within the European Union and in the Neighbouring countries. I also worked on sexual and reproductive health related issues, such as identifying potential areas for formulation of EU policy in this policy area. I was in particular responsible for consultation processes both within the Commission and with external partners, including Member States and civil society. In the team I was responsible for the development of cooperation and involvement of Civil Society. I had a major role in the formulation of the policy and implementation of key aspects of the policy was my responsibility. This for example included taking forward issues relating to awareness raising, access to treatment, coordinating actions with other DGs and assisting Council Presidencies in planning of their activities.
