Capstone Project: Case Study ReportCreated a professionally written case study report on a patient that required interesting nutrition care considerations. An oral case study presentation was also presented to local dietitians and program leaders. Show less Worked with Carilion Dining and Nutrition Services to develop a monthly theme to be used in multiple carilion cafes in 2025 as part of a community health promotion program operated by Carilion. The theme was set to be used in October and it was titled "Scary Good Plant-Based Meals." This theme was meant to provide dietary variety to Carilion cafe customers in southwestern VA. The developed meals were all plant-based versions of traditional southern meals. This project involved creating standardized recipes, utilizing USFoods for purchasing, pricing the meals, and preparing the meals. The project was also creatively driven by encouraging creative themes, recipes, and promotional materials. Show less Capstone Project: Wrote a paper advocating for the use of indirect calorimetry for critically-ill patients at Carilion hospitals. This project was focused on identifying the research consensus on the use of indirect calorimetry for critically-ill patients and the feasibility of indirect calorimetry's implementation at Carilion facilities. This involved taking FTE's, the budget, and other logistical factors into consideration. This project also included using Microsoft Excel to develop a budget and to calculate the necessary FTE's for the operation of the indirect calorimetry unit. Show less

  Community Nutrition Rotation

  Created a health promotion program "Nutrition Self-Care Workshop" baed on a needs assessment conducted on Virginia Tech Employees. The program was designed to be adaptable to other employee wellness departments at other universities. The program focused on promoting positive health and nutrition-related behaviors such as the PAGA guidelines, MyPlate, and mental health resources. This project was presented to stakeholders and retained for future use by Virginia Tech Employee Wellness.
