In January 2015, I was promoted from Conference Services Lead to Conference Services Senior Lead. During my transitional period between these two roles, I was trained in more advanced HR, payroll, and budgeting responsibilities that have aided me in understanding the nature of a professional management role. In my role as Senior Lead thus far, I have assisted in coordinating the recruitment, hiring, and selection process for our upcoming summer season as well as assist in preparing the budget for our upcoming fiscal year. With the seasonal team selected and hired, I am responsible for the coordination of our training sessions and CPR/First Aid training, as well as the housing accommodations for our staff and processing their paperwork through the University HR department. Show less As a Conference Services Lead, I was given the opportunity to explore the planning stages of a conference services season. As the summer months approached, I worked with various group coordinators to provide campus tours, create financial estimates, manage function space and housing inventory, create license agreements, and coordinate detailed group reservations through multiple campus entities. I was also able to gain invaluable experience as the direct supervisor of a team of 9 student workers, which strengthened my leadership skills and gave me direct payroll experience. Throughout the summer season, I coordinated multiple conference groups, prepared the weekly schedules for a team of 30, and prepared invoices and billing documents for conference groups after their time with Conference Services. As a Lead, I gained a tremendous amount of work experience that has strengthened my love for both the hospitality industry, as well as revenue analysis and management. Show less The ARCHES program is a grant-based program that provides peer tutoring, advising, and academic mentorship to students who are registered with the Disability Resource Center of Cal Poly Pomona. The students are given the opportunity to receive hands-on tutoring for specific courses, and their peer tutors are often students of that course's designated college/major program. As a peer tutor, I assist my assigned tutees in time management, study skill, course content, and examples of course material in order for that student to better navigate academic achievement. The Peer Tutor position aids me in becoming a more well-rounded student and community member. Show less University Housing Services seeks to provide the residents of the community with the utmost in safety, hospitality, cultural immersion, and As a resident advisor, I am a mentor to my peers within the on-campus housing community. I coordinate and plan various programs for the residents, ranging from academic focus groups to interactive community development to light-hearted social events. I also act as a mediator in the event of a conflict or incident, and perform routine rounds of the premises while on nightly duty shifts. Show less With the University Housing Services' Conference Services department, I work with a large number of conference groups who stay within the university housing facilities. I work directly with the clients, providing check-in & check-out service and front desk attendance, as well as a variety of back-of-the-house services such as housekeeping and event preparations. As a junior lead, I work in the office with event planning, contracting, billing, and invoicing in addition to performing the conference service aide's job duties stated above. My position also provides me with hands-on training and experience for the upcoming academic year's position of Conference Services Lead. Show less As the Front Desk Supervisor of the Kellogg West Conference Center & Hotel, I hold the responsibility of creating the weekly schedule, creating and inputting conference group information into our reservation system, delegating daily tasks at the front desk, and calculating group billing invoices and processing a variety of kinds of payment.
