      I started work for Redditch Borough Council in the Housing Benefit Department and held different roles including Assessment Officer, Verification Officer and Appeals Officer before moving to the Revenues Section as Revenues Team Leader.Moving to Housing Services I qualified and became a member of the Institute of Housing. My first project was to review the sheltered housing and co-produce a 25 year strategy for which I was highly commended at the annual staff awards.After working with the Performance and Database Team I moved through to carry out various projects relating to troubleshooting, improving performance, managing change and eliminating waste and duplication among the rent collection service, Home Support Service, tenancy management and Repairs & Maintenance service specialising in Void Management.       I worked for Hanover on a temporary basis responsible for providing support, advice and information to leaseholders in retirement accommodation so that residents can make informed choices about the options open to them.I also provided a well managed home and grounds and make sure that repairs are carried out quickly and effectively. Resident involvement was an important part of my role and I encouraged those who liked to be involved and introduced measures that enabled them to be as involved as they choose to be.I also provided advice on rent and service charge payments and help with claims for benefit entitlement and advised on and facilitated property adaptations where there was an individual need.I made sure that new residents were welcome and understood how all the services operated. An important element of the role is provision of support, to arrange or facilitate support to residents in the event of illness, injury or return from hospital etc. I respond to onsite emergencies and engage services as appropriate.I assist in arranging access to services and liaison with statutory bodies and signposting for other support services as applicable eg. care, domestic services, gardening etcI always ensure that a high quality of service is provided at all times including leisure and social activities and arrange resident meetings regularly to ensure residents are kept informed.
