      Whilst studying for my Extended Diploma, I joined ATS as a Groundsman, where I was soon trusted to manage the ground whilst the team leader was in the tree. As ATS was the contract holder for many Councils and the Royal Parks, we were almost always roadside which meant traffic management and the public’s safety was a paramount responsibility of mine.

      Working as a sub contractor for Bronze-leaf Group, we dealt with vegetation management for Network Rail. I had to gain my PTS (Personal Track Safety) certificate and understand the in depth risk assessments before being allowed to work on the railway. My roles would include rope access work around structures, carefully pruning/ felling trees away from the train line and dealing with the invasive Japanese Knotweed during live running times, track shut downs and night shifts.
