    • Staples Education Foundation

      Oct 2015 - Apr 2020
      General Manager

Staples Education Foundation supports Dilworth school leavers as they transition from school into university and then into the workforce. In order to do this, each student receives a mentor, a buddy for 1st year university guidance, work experience, a support and development programme, and for some students, financial assistance to help with their university costs. Each student has their support system built around their own personal journey, providing a complete wrap around model. An additional support mechanism introduced into the programme is SEF MAP (Mentee Assistance Programme) which offers 1:1 confidential assistance to any student needing help. Anja Isaacson, Clinical Psychologist, provides this support to our students.SEF supports their Mentors through training, group peer supervision sessions and 1:1 support supplied by Sam Farmer, Coaching Psychologist. Our work experience component has been created to offer each of our students a view into the career pathway they wish to follow. We are privileged to be supported by many amazing companies and people. This is truly a great values based programme which is helping "great boys become great men". Show less

I have recently become involved with this trust here in Nelson. I am supporting them on a voluntary basis as I want to support the work they are doing. Read their story below and take time to have a look at their website www.braintumoursupport.org.nz . This could affect any of us.OUR HISTORYThree of our five Board of Trustee members have direct experience of either living with a brain tumour, or with a family member who has a brain tumour. Our charity began in 2019 in response to the severe lack of information and support for brain tumour patients and their families here in New Zealand. We want to ensure that ‘we are in this together’.A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US We are New Zealand’s brain tumour support charity. We provide information, support and guidance to patients, their families and friends. We advocate for the best treatments, care and support for patients, so they can have the best possible outcomes and quality of life. Show less
