  The Data Center Administrator is a member of the Data Center Operations Section of the Systems, Operations and Security Department, a department within the Information Technology Division (ITD). This position is a first level technical position whose primary responsibility is to assist or independently perform a variety of tasks required to maintain a stable Data Center environment (power and AC), and support systems which provide critical campus and enterprise-wide services. Data Center Admin is assigned day-to-day and ad-hoc project tasks by the Data Center Manager in support of service level commitments. This position stages systems (i.e. racking, cabling and “burn-in” of physical machines), monitors systems, performs operating systems patching of Windows and Linux test servers, maintains systems lifecycle inventory/retirement, and maintains backup system tapes.
