    • Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited

      Aug 2005 - Jul 2007
      Network Engineer

As a Network Engineer in PTCL, I was responsible for the Network Management, Operation & Maintenance of Networks, and Configuration of Network Devices. I got experience in routing protocols like RIP, OSPF, EIGRP and BGP. I gained expertise in routed protocols (IPv4 and IPv6), VPNs, LAN Switching, WAN Circuits and monitoring tools (MRTG, Nagios). I had professional customer interaction via various channels including telephone, e-mail and face-to-face meeting. We provided around the clock support for our valued customers. Show less

    • KTH Royal Institute of Technology

      Sept 2008 - Feb 2009
      Network Engineer

In High Definition Valley (HDV) project, we expanded the Swedish Silicon Valley Link (SSVL) research network with 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) links to KTH/Kista - KTH/Valhallavägen - KI/Solna- Karolinska/Huddinge. We developed and deployed a full high definition (HD) video conference solution by using open source router (Bifrost). We evaluated several video conferencing tools and found the most suitable deployment. For monitoring network devices (routers, switches, servers and hosts) and inbound/outbound traffic behavior, Nagios and MRTG were implemented in this project. Show less

    • Alcatel Lucent Enterprise France

      May 2009 - Sept 2009
      Internee

In Alcatel Lucent Bell Labs, I had my internship for 5 months. During this internship, I worked on a project “Analysis of Inter Wi-Fi Access Points Seamless Mobility” in Triple play Wireless Networks (TWN) department. In this project, I computed results from data collected at different sites in Paris city. The objective is to assess if a mobile service could be offered based on the existing coverage. I evaluated the average number of APs in each dataset, measure the signal strength of APs, number of candidate APs, channel utilization, status of APs deployed by operators and observed the possibilities for a fast and seamless handover. Finally based on analysis, observations and results, I concluded that fast handover and seamless mobility in such environments is possible or not. Show less

    • IMDEA Networks

      Oct 2009 - Sept 2010
      Research Assistant

In IMDEA Networks, I worked on several European Projects as a Research Assistant. I focused on “Inter-technology Handover with Proxy Mobile IPv6”. Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based mobility protocol where the mobility signaling is performed by a network entity on behalf of the mobile node. The current specification of PMIPv6 is limited to basic operations such as registration, de-registration and tunnel management of the mobile node. However, it does not define protocol operations for flow mobility, multi-homing, optimal routing and inter-technology seamless handovers. In this project, we highlight technical issues related to inter-technology handover in PMIPv6 domain. Then we discuss different proposed mechanisms to solve these issues. Finally, we evaluated these mechanisms and pointed out the pros and cons of each proposal. Show less

      Lecturer

As a faculty member in COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, I taught different computer science courses. Apart from teaching, I have been a member of several committees where we performed tasks related to curriculum, students counseling, performance improvement and sports activities. Being a member of Final Year Projects committee, we evaluate the final year students’ projects. As a member of Counseling Committee, we help students in their administrative, academics, social and personal issues. Show less
