Now, is the perfect time to work towards changing the African Narrative to the future we want. This journey requires relentless commitment, skillful negotioan with stakeholders, and respectful partnerships. It is important to note that Infections do not stop at the boarders. Therefore regional collaboration that emphasizes accelerated timelines without compromising safety, efficacy, and accessibility is a shift that needs to be embraced. It is important to fill the R&D pipeline during peacetime, to enable speed in response when a pandemic hits. Manufacturing of these countermeasures should be decentralized, to encourage local manufacturing of therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostic tools in Africa. As world leaders are dealing with multiple crises that compete for resources, it is important to secure the gains already realized, by engaging in exceptional routines in inter-pandemic periods.
