      Volunteer at the National Musuem Wales, working with the preventative conservation team-Performed conservation tasks in museum galleries promoting practices traditonally seen as behind the scenes and inaccessible to the public. This includes: -Pest management-Humidity monitoring-Silica gel replacement-Conservation cleaning-Repacking collections-Gallery inspections-Adaption of storage for collections-Public engagement promoting better public access-Presented Paper at Conservation Matters in Wales of the impact of pubic conservation on the volunteers conducting the tasks in public and how we can learn and improve public conservationSpecifically: -Repacking of archaeoligcal metal replacing silica gel with new silica gel to ensure low humidity was retained and palcing humidity monitors in accessible positons in the storage boxes to improve long term monitoring -Pest monitoring of the building and musuem collections, reagulalry collection data on pest activity in the musuem, recordingthe data for comparison with previous data sets -Cleaning of museum stores, reduce the risk of damage caused by dirt in the environment and the attraction of pests, reducing the risk of pest infestations. -Preperation for the transference of a collection to new storage.       At the Roman Baths I worked as part of an award winning front of house team, winning recognition at a local and national level at the South West Tourist Awards (Gold Award) and Visit England awards (Runner up). The Roman Baths has a reputation of inclusivity with staff trained to make any visitors experience enjoyable and exceed their expectations. The role of Visitor Services Assistant included -Leading education groups from KS2 too University level, running a variety of education sessions, employing appropriate education methodologies for the different age and education levels of students. -Develop and lead public and private guided tours of the museum and Roman remains. Utilising the multiple media methods employed on the side including audio guides, reenactors, visual projections, handling collections and reconstructions to depict the unique past of the Roman Baths, to create a comprehensive tour employing the latest archaeological theory and concepts to create an immersive tour suitable for all ages and interests.-Working under sustained pressure during peak periods of up to 7000 to 8000 visitors a day. -Management of visitor flow across the site, understanding the needs of visitors and of the site to ensure visitor experiences are not tarnished and the building and roman remains are not at risk from damage-Extensive cash handling including the counting of floats and takings. -Management of databases and visitor focused systems including operation of the Galaxy till system and group booking system. -Carrying out safety checks before opening to the public and responsibility for reporting to the operations team and ensuring public safety.-Monitoring Museum during opening hours, ensuring the museum and the public are safe during opening hours, -Carrying out of the closing procedure, moving through the museum locking the musuem down stage by stage and handing over of the museum to security following the closure of the museum, Show less
