Queen's biomedical innovation team
Sept 2021 - May 2024I led a multi-disciplinary biomedical engineering design team at Queen's University. The team aims to introduce undergraduate students to biomedical engineering by solving problems within the medical field. As Co-Captain, my responsibilities included the hiring of all executive and general members, guiding the team to meet our objectives and final goals, and ensuring smooth operation.Easy-O: This project aims to develop a low-cost, battery-powered oxygen therapy machine for use in low-resource hospitals worldwide. This project competed as a semi-finalist at Rice Univeristy's 14th Annual Undergraduate Global Health Technologies Design Competition. This project was also presented at the 2024 Summer Biomechanics, Bioengineering, and Biotransport Conference (SB3C) as a Poster Presentation.IV Tutor: This project aims to develop an IV insertion training device utilizing 3D Slicer software, a phantom arm model, and an electrical system. This project was also selected for a Poster Presentation at SB3C. Show less I led a multidisciplinary group of students to design and manufacture a gas transfer mechanism to perform effective gas transfer within an artificial lung mechanism. As a project manager I supervised the selection and implementation of the mechanism, planned weekly meetings, and ensured that project goals were met.The project was presented at both the RICE360 Global Health Technologies Design Competition and the SB3C Conference.
