      Perform specific techniques relating to in-house breeding colonies. Wean mice litters into new cages according to project needs, with special care provided for underdeveloped or double litters. Collect tail samples for genotype analysis according to lab-specific or TransnetYX procedures. Ear notch mice for identification. Pair genotyped mice into breeding systems to achieve desired genetic results. Record litters, inventory, health observations, and genetic information into database. Generate, print, and organize cage cards of assigned colonies. Prepare selected mice in transport containers for research pick up or shipment to other facilities. Receive shipments from facilities and process through database. Participate in research studies by providing experimental diets/bedding sizes, weighing mice, and updating spreadsheets. Achieved LAT certification. Show less Maintain research colony of rodents located within the Cancer and Genetics Research Complex breeding suite. Observe assigned animals for variances in health status by monitoring for physical, behavioral, and environmental fluctuations. Identify age of mice pups through key physiological milestones, and ensure well-being of litters through proper handling and care techniques. Report symptomatic animals through in-house database. PPE compliance when handling animals, equipment, and chemicals. Assess extreme conditions and provide emergency care. Collaborate with animal husbandry team to maintain hygienic workplace through rack/cage changes, sanitation, and supply organization.
