  As the pastor overseeing the ministry to high school students, I was responsible for recruiting and leading a team of volunteers, engaging with parents to support them as they raised their children, and planning and executing a variety of programs, events and trips. 1st Presbyterian is a large downtown Winston-Salem church with a membership of 1,200. We regularly hosted over 50 high school students for events. I was also responsible for the planning and execution of an international mission trip involving over 80 students and leaders. Show less

  The Youth in Transition Community Initiative of Forsyth County is a comprehensive community plan designed to improve the youths’ chances of connecting with the necessary supports and services to successfully transition into adulthood.Responsible for securing annual budget of $450,00 through grants and donations. YIT was a start up initiative and my role was to generate interest from stakeholders in various sectors: housing, education, employment, and mental health. Regular public speaking and developed online presence to recruit community partners and volunteers.Proven success managing staff who use a focused approach of assisting participants to build assets, generate greater income, find affordable housing, and build social and emotional skills by addressing past trauma. Participants reported significantly higher rate - 68% vs 35% of income earning than peers, and also experienced positive trends in housing, education and employment. Show less
