      Jan 2009 - Jan 2010
      Dance Teacher

I completed my Associate Diploma from the British Association of Teachers of Dancing in the examination and qualification in Stage, in which I obtained my teachers license at the age of seventeen. In my examination, I had to demonstrate my knowledge and ability of various dance genres, and my understanding of physiology and anatomy, as well as my ability to break down movements to demonstrate and teach children in a way that reflects their strength, ability, and physical development. I taught tap classes to children that were ages seven to nine. I monitored and evaluated children's work to determine progress or suggestions for improvement. I demonstrated techniques and methods of regulating movements of body to musical or rhythmic soundtracks. When creating choreography, you have to be knowledgable and understand the children's individual abilities to create a dance that is reflective of their skills, but is still challenging to build on those skills. From this experience, I have learnt to break down and demonstrate movements to each individual child according to their capability and potential. How I taught a dance step to one child may differ in comparison to teaching another children who shows different strengths and weaknesses. Also, as a dance teacher, I have acquired knowledge of physiology and anatomy through my training and qualifications to become a dance teacher. Show less

      RECE

Throughout my years working at this location, I had the opportunity to work in various classrooms, ages one to twelve. I was responsible for planning and implementing activities that promote social, physical and intellectual growth of children, creating lesson plans based on developmental levels. Working with children of various ages and abilities, I have learnt that children build and construct their own theories of knowledge and views of the world through experiences involving positive interactions with peers and educators. Knowledge is co-constructed. Adults and children interact and collaborate ideas of learning. I have learnt that play and hands on experiences is the foundation for learning as it increases creativity, and changes the cognition of the child pertaining to problem solving, language development, literacy, emotional and physical abilities. Additionally, each child is unique to their development as they develop at their own pace. Show less
