      As a State of Florida employee, performed watershed analysis of an urbanized basin to determine compliance of existing development with state regulations in an attempt to reduce flooding. Reviewed applications for issuance or denial of Environmental Resource Permits and Water Use Permits in accordance with District rules. Responsible for investigation of public complaints dealing with issues such as flooding, standing water, wetland encroachment and unpermitted activities.

      Designed a wide variety of new construction projects from 100+ lot subdivisions to multi phase churches and schools to <1 acre banks for a small Planning/Engineering company within the state of Florida. Design considerations often included high water table, wetland issues as well as archaeological concerns. Stormwater planning, design and renovation was a primary responsibility. Performed all related permitting duties associated with projects including but not limited to City, County, Water Management District, FDOT, FEMA, ACOE, and FDEP.       Together with a team of 6 engineers, performed design services for the City of Chicago Department of Water Management’s $200-250 million per year Capital Improvement program including 40+ miles of water main replacement annually. Interacted daily with on site client to resolve design issues and address constructability concerns. Coordinated with Sewer Department as well as Chicago Department of Transportation on specialty projects to minimize cost. The City of Chicago’s facilities include 3 intakes, 1.45 BGD water purification plant, 720 MGD water purification plant, finished water tunnels and storage tanks, 12 pumps stations and 4,230 miles of water distribution mains. The system serves 5.4 million people in Chicago and 51 neighboring municipalities. Show less
