    • Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center

      Oct 2011 - Apr 2013
Staff Surgeon, Trauma & Critical Care

While concurrently working full-time David Grant Medical Center, I have took advantage of the Air Force External Resource Sharing Agreement (ERSA) with Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center to fostor a good relationship with the local community hospital. I provided 12-24 hour in-house call coverage on the Trauma & Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Service at this ACS certified Level III Trauma Center. As the sole surgeon covering in-house 24-hours call, I handled all the trauma activations through the emergency departments. I was responsible for resuscitation, stabilization, evaluation, and surgical intervention of each injured patient, as well as patients with acute general surgery emergencies. I also managed the inpatient care, including critical ICU care, and disopositions of these patients. By performing this additional work during my free time, I was able to sustain better trauma & critical care skills making me even more ready for my periodic military deployments as a combat surgeon. This working agreement also promoted a healthy working relationship between the Air Force and the local community. Show less

    • Eglin Air Force Base Medical Center

      Oct 2014 - now
Chief, Minimally Invasive Surgery; Director, Bariatric Program; Medical Director of General Surgery

I was personally recruited by the hospital commander to transfer to Eglin AFB Medical Center to fill a general surgeon vacancy, but to also revive a Bariatric Program that was defunct. As the sole Bariatric surgeon, I created a new multi-disciplinary program from scratch as the Bariatric Director, all while maintaining my full obligations as a General Surgeon. Since 2014, I have saved the Air Force millions of dollars by providing in-house bariatric care. My efforts have contributed to multiple annual awards to Eglin AFB Medical Center as the top hospital in the Air Force, and the top producing general surgery department in the Air Force. Personally, I have become the top 3 producing general surgeons in the Air Force over each of the past 3 years, which culminated into becoming the number 1 out of 105 general surgeons in regard to productivity.
