      The Museu de Arte de São Paulo is a private, nonprofit museum founded by Brazilian businessman Assis Chateaubriand, in 1947, as Brazil’s first modern museum. I worked on a business case study project as part of a Columbia Global Center | Rio de Janeiro and Museum of Art of São Paulo (MASP) collaboration. This case study documents the museum turnover process of MASP that occurred in 2014 after Heitor Martins, Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company, took over as the new President with a new team of directors. It traces the financial strategies, governance, management decisions, which led to the recovery of the museum from a near bankruptcy.Leading this project and writing the case study, I interviewed directors and middle-management, as well as researched on the Brazilian arts scene, to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of MASP today.
