    • JS Fund for Hope

      Aug 2007 - now

JS FUND FOR HOPE is initially a child-oriented non-governmental organization dedicated to the welfare of poor, neglected rural children which strives to advocate and create the requisite physical, psychological and socio-economic conditions necessary for their healthy growth and development into useful adulthood.During the course of our operations it came to light that the precarious condition of the children is the true reflection of the appalling conditions of their mothers whose human rights are blatantly abused. In 2011, activities to increase the awareness on the fundamental human rights of women and girls especially on education, sexual health and reproductive health rights and economic empowerment were included. Issues being tackled are: domestic and sexual violence, sexual exploitation, rape, girl child trafficking, teenage pregnancy, sexual and reproductive health, illiteracy and poverty. Our target groups are: Girls (0-18): teenage mothers, victims of violence against girls, girl school drop outs, orphans & girls of broken marriages.Women(19-40): victims of VAW/G, divorced mothers, rural illiterate and peasant women farmers. It was established in Ghana in August 2007 and incorporated with registration number G.21, 385 by William Kudzo Gati, in collaboration with Mrs. Edouardine Amegee , an educationist and Ms Theresa Ama Bruku, district public health nurse. Our operational area covers rural communities in the South, Central and North Tongus districts, Akatsi South and North districts and the Keta Municipality. All members of the Board of Directors are women except the CEO. 80% of the 11-member Executive are women. We have also mobilized 1000 women within our operational area. Efforts are also being made to halt the alarming teenage pregnancy rate of 49% in our rural communities.JSFH seeks donors and philantrophists for funds to implement and expand programs to enable rural women and girls live meaningful lives.
