      Dec 2002 - Jun 2008
      Senior Community Linkage Worker

Excluding my role with the Child and Youth Officer, I spent 6 years working on the initiative of hearing from communities and individuals accessing child and family services in order to restructure these services under the umbrella of a Regional Aboriginal Authority. A large portion of my role included understanding this possible transition, the requirements, and the implications for the Aboriginal communities and individuals in the Fraser Region. In presenting these to the stakeholders, it also required discussions, and the interpretation of experiences and expectations of the Aboriginal community into opportunities for this proposed structure. As part of a provincial move that did not become a reality, I'm proud to have been a part of our regional process that made it's way to an Interim Authority level, and to contribute to some changes in how the existing structures provide their services. • Child and Youth Officer of BC

      Mar 2006 - Apr 2007
      Youth Participation Coordinator

This was a youth-specific role in order to bring the voice of youth throughout the province into the work of the Child and Youth Officer of BC. This was the first youth specific position for the agency, and involved a range of acquiring input on government provided services, and providing some advocacy to youth. This included one on one discussions with homeless or at-risk youth, to providing a Rights based workshop for youth and their "allies". I left this position as some changes came to this Office, and subsequently it morphed into the Representative for BC. Show less

    • Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society

      Aug 2008 - May 2015

I currently lead a team of workers providing crucial and supportive roles to children and families involved with our agency. This includes support to foster homes, support to families around their visitation and even a traditional counsellor. This role included any and all work for our agency in the recruitment, and involvement with staffed homes providing care for children and youth under the care of our agency. This includes taking in proposals, the negotiation, and the day to day interaction around those homes we had contracted with to provide this care.

    • Sto:lo Service Agency

      Sept 2016 - Jul 2018

Provide a review, assessment and develop recommendations for the provision of youth services for the agency. In addition to reviewing past youth input, and understanding how services are currently provided, I also have the ability to engage with partners and external agencies for Best Practice examples as well. In addition to producing some recommendations on completion of this work, I have been tasked with helping to implement changes that can take place in advance of a final report. Ultimately, this opportunity is about providing better outcomes for our youth, a concept that is often spoken about, yet does not always have results that demonstrate this. Show less
