  Aircraft Restoration Technician

  Voluntary work experience involved with the restoration of aircraft exhibits at the museum alongside the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Effective time-managment and organisation required to ensure components were manufactured in a timely manner and ready for display. The exhibits ranged from ex-military fast jets, such as the Sea Harrier and Hawk T1, to ex-commercial aircraft, such as the De Havilland Comet and the Jetstream 31.

  Potential Officer Visit

  The 4-day experience week gave a hollistic view of the Fleet Air Arm at RNAS Yeovilton and reaffirmed my decision to apply as a pilot in the Royal Navy. The experience allowed us to visit a range of squadrons based at the airbase and provided the opportunity to look at all aspects of life in the FAA; including flying, safety, fitness, all aspects of aircraft maintenance, as well as the social life on the base. This experience taught me about methods of leadership and how to apply them, as well as life in a regimented and disciplined environment. Show less

This required effective time management to balancemy degree and repairs, as often repairs took days to carry out. I was also heavilyinvolved with the sourcing, trialling and purchasing of two new 4+ for the club. Inaddition to repairs, I was also the club's safety officer. This side of the role involvedwriting the club's risk assessments and carrying out the British Rowing Safety Audit.These are critical documentation for the running of the club. Aside from the role, Idid the club's applications for the ATA Carnet documentation and Goods MovementReferences (GMR) for the club's Easter Camp in Brive, France.   Research and analysis of data relating to maritime wind assisted propulsion to inform the selection of wingfoil technologies for commercial shipping to help improve their environmental impact, including the plan and CFD of various sail types. I have been newly assigned a project undertaking research and modelling of a VTOL maritime UAV analysis, where CFD, FEA and other analyses will be carried out to obtain an optimum prototype of a UAV able to be deployed in a maritime environment.

  Graduate Engineer at Southern Spars' UK office, specialising in the design and manufacture of Dynarig projects. Responsible for creating detailed 2D production drawings and Build Method Sheets (BMS) for critical mast components. I ensure high manufacturing standards are maintained, working closely with, and visiting, Southern Spars' manufacturing facility in Poland, to deliver bespoke high-quality engineered masts for super yachts.
