    • Rospen Industries

      Sept 2012 - Feb 2013
      Trainee Project Engineer

At Rospen Industries, I created detailed CAD models of products from contract specifications into annotated manufacturing, assembly and fabrication drawings. I would research suppliers for compatible peripheral components; from electric equipment such as level sensors to sealant material, taking into consideration design conditions from ATEX classification to the metered product chemical volatility. I learnt about ATEX ratings, safe manual handling requirements, anticipating the construction issues they posed and creating machinery O&M documentation with appropriate legal incorporation/conformity certificates. I frequently communicated with workshop staff to improve future designs introducing an Engineering Change Requirement process (ECR), while maintaining correspondence between multiple separate clients for up to 7 simultaneous overlapping projects. My clients included Eccelso, Fugro Seacore, Intersnack, London & Scandinavian, Walkers PepsiCo, Tangerine, Telford Extrusions, United Biscuits, Universal Flexible Packaging and Xerox. Show less

    • IPU Group

      Apr 2013 - Sept 2014
      Graduate Mechanical Engineer

At Industrial Power Units (IPU) I was part of the Engineering Design & Project Management Team. Carrying out various project activities I helped introduction new products to market and develop solutions to help our existing manufacturing processes. With the goal to increase in-house manufacture of our products from 20% to 50% in four years. I began with the 36" flail mower which went into production after less than 6 months. I then finished a plug in hydraulic fan drive control system directed at our clients in the Oil & Gas market who included the likes of Shell, BP, SPP and CAT. I brought in-house and conducted Finite Element Analysis (FEA) reports on skid rigidity, lifting eye stress analysis and platform reaction loads. I pushed for progressing towards a standardised set of starter packs with a specification check-list traveller which reduced lead time and production cost to IPU. I was given training by Swagelok, a Pepperl+Fuchs ATEX awareness course and Solid Solutions Solidworks classes including DriveWorks. I 3D modelled the new 50,000sqft IPU building layout to virtually test equipment layouts prior to site relocation. Show less

Project varied form bespoke one off testing and development pieces to batch production, built to print projects. Mostly steel fabrications with some assembly, testing and commissioning. I produce all the necessary project paperwork and disseminate information throughout the departments and manage contract cost through to delivery. A significant proportion of time was involved managing engineering design changes by clients during projects.
